What is the purpose of J Arp & Company?
J Arp & Company Research, LLC is an economic & financial market research firm dedicated to a comprehensive approach to analyzing market conditions. We use a multi-faceted approach utilizing fundamental evaluations of macroeconomic variables and classical financial valuation, technical analysis, and statistical models to formulate opinions regarding future investment performance of asset classes and sectors. We actively take positions in the markets based on these opinions, so we are not dis-interested observers. The firm’s members participate actively in the stock, bond, and commodities markets, in both cash and derivatives (futures & options). It is our belief that one cannot provide pertinent investment analysis without taking a stake. Those who take no positions based on their research are free to make ridiculous forecasts and suggest investors take risks that they themselves are not willing to take. They are also oblivious to what the flickering ticks are telling us about the current environment. We believe “independent” analysts are often promoters of markets, benefiting from assets under the management of their affiliates.

What is the Perspectives?
Perspectives is our weekly newsletter. We provide an independent, often contrary, view of the economy and the markets. Our primary focus is on macro-economic trends and our expectations for what these devlopments mean for the investment environment, however we delve into fundamental valuations and occasionally technical analysis. Most analysis is biased, whether the analyst knows it or not. What is the Datacruiser?
The Datacruiser is J Arp & Company's proprietary economic data plotting tool. We continuously collect economic data from a variety of sources for our own analysis and research. Datacruiser makes retrieval and plotting time series data easy. Simply select the report from where the data comes from, select the series you want to analyze, the frequency, and the form (year-over-year % change, level, etc.). The user can perform comparison ratios, adjust figures for inflation, or perform correlation analysis with scatter plots.
